Poland slipped to the second with seven wins and one defeat. The top two in the 16-team table went neck and neck from the beginning, but Poland led the first set in the middle of the game on superior attacking and blocking. The United States took control of the second set and fought off a hard challenge from Poland in the third set with successful spikes from outside hitters Alexandra Frantti and Kelsey Robinson.
